Enhancement of the European Parliament's Monitoring for Better Coherence between Trade Policy and Non-Trade Policy Objectives (Ntpos)

Since the Treaty of Lisbon, trade policy has become an explicit part EU's external and integrated into general framework EU´s policy, but must also be in conformity with internal policies. Thus, is subject to a requirement multiple coherence. Beyond constitutional obligations, other drivers work for inclusion non-genuine commercial objectives such as orientation contemporary politics towards behind border issues national regulation, so that became closely intertwined domestic regulatory policy. Therefore actors primarily responsible legislation, i.e. parliaments, advocate their extended participation determining rightly reasons transparency, control political inclusiveness. Parliaments thus respect positive consideration non-commercial which applies well European Parliament (EP). Hence, institutional design formulation cycles decision-making EU strives better coherence concerns NTPOs focus on strengthening influence EP improve its participatory rights monitoring mechanisms.
